When Should You Start Using a Pregnancy Pillow?
There’s no need to wait until your bump is visibly showing. Most mums find it most helpful to start using a pregnancy pillow during the second trimester (around 20 weeks), when the bump begins to grow and sleeping on your back can become uncomfortable.
Ultimately, it depends on how your body feels. If you experience discomfort when sleeping on your back, lower back pain when you wake up, or find yourself turning over frequently during the night, it may be a good time to start using a pregnancy pillow.
Midwife-Approved Comfort

Midwife Vic, Founder of C-sectionUK
SleepBump has developed a pregnancy pillow with U-shaped ergonomic support that wraps around to support the whole body, easing key pressure points.

Anne Margolis CNM, LM, RN
My favourite pregnancy pillows are those made by SleepBump, as they are the most supportive, ergonomic and deliciously comfortable for safe rest and sleep.

Caitlyn Schollmeier CNM, MSN
The U-shape supports your head, neck, back, belly, hips, and legs all at once. You can wrap your legs around one side, hug the middle, and use the other side to keep your spine aligned and prevent rolling onto your back during the night.

Our Story
The journey to motherhood is incredible, but let’s be honest—it’s also exhausting. SleepBump was born out of a simple realisation: mums-to-be were struggling to find genuine comfort.
As a UK-based brand, we saw too many women compromising on their sleep, trying to wedge standard pillows behind their backs or under their bumps, only to wake up with aches and pains. We knew there had to be a better way to support women during one of the most physically demanding times of their lives.
Our mission is straightforward: to provide premium, ergonomic maternity support that actually works. We spent months researching, testing, and refining our designs, focusing on materials that are cooling, breathable, and supportive. From our signature Full Body U-Shaped pillows to our targeted Wedge cushions, every SleepBump product is designed to align your spine, relieve pelvic pressure, and give you the rest you deserve.
We believe that every expectant mother deserves to wake up feeling refreshed. SleepBump isn't just about pillows; it's about providing the comfort and care you need to thrive during pregnancy and beyond.
Welcome to the SleepBump family. Sleep well, mama.
FAQ : Frequently Asked Questions
Have a few questions before choosing the perfect pregnancy pillow? That’s completely normal. We’ve gathered the most frequent questions from our mums-to-be to help you find your ideal SleepBump with complete peace of mind.
When should I start using a pregnancy pillow?
When should I start using a pregnancy pillow?
There is no set time to start using a pregnancy pillow. Many mums-to-be begin using one during the second trimester as their bump grows and sleeping becomes less comfortable. Others start earlier for additional support or simply to get used to a more comfortable sleeping position.
Which SleepBump pillow shape is right for me?
Which SleepBump pillow shape is right for me?
U-Shaped & G-Shaped (Full Body): Perfect if you want 360-degree support for your head, back, bump, and legs. It prevents you from rolling onto your back during the night.
J-Shaped: Ideal if you want full-body support but share a smaller bed, as it takes up less space than the U-Shape.
Wedge Pillows: The best choice for targeted support (like placing it just under your bump or behind your back) and great for travelling.
Are the pillow covers removable and washable?

Yes. SleepBump pregnancy pillows are designed with removable covers that can be taken off for easy cleaning. Please follow the washing instructions provided with your individual pillow to help keep the cover fresh and maintain its quality.
What is the difference between the different SleepBump pillow shapes?
What is the difference between the different SleepBump pillow shapes?
Each shape is designed to provide a different type of support. Full-body designs offer more surrounding support, while J-shaped, C-shaped and wedge-style designs provide more targeted support and can be easier to position or use in smaller spaces.
We recommend choosing the shape that best suits your preferred sleeping position, the level of support you want and the space available in your bed.
